The Ancient Star Quilt is handmade by a Pennsylvania Amish woman. The star pattern is one of the oldest and most familiar of all the traditional quilt patterns, but great precision is needed to make all the star points meet and lie flat! The quilt is all hand-quilted by one lady to insure uniform stitches and is initialed and dated. On a king bed, this quilt will have approximately 18.5 inches of drop.

While the pieces of fabric are sewn together by machine to make certain tighter sewing, all the quilting is done by hand. 100% cotton materials make up the top and bottom of the quilt. The batting sandwiched in between those two layers, nonetheless, is 100% polyester. This polyester batting warranties both heat and excellent washing results.
Almost all of our quilts are generous enough to reduce the need for a dust ruffle or pillow shams. Just as bed heights differ, each quilt's dimensions can be different. We list the quilt's measurements together with the estimated drop for you to compare to the dimensions you need. I love my purple Lone Star Quilt…it was a big investment for me! I bought a Twin size that was listed as fitting a Queen and it did (using my ruffle). Thank you for having accurate measurements and good photos AND updated notes on availability. I found one a couple of years ago on another site out in PA and I ordered it and my card was charged. Then, I was called to say it wasn’t available and would be 6 months if I wanted it made. Your emails were great and was surprised by the fast delivery. PS. My husband loves the ocean, we live 1 hour away, so I bought this quilt “for him”. Our bedroom has several nautical items in it and is painted a sea foam blue. We love it and we pray for the quilter of the Sailor’s compass quilt nightly.
