This Storm at Sea Quilt was hand-quilted by one lady to ensure even stitches. The fabrics are chosen first, then cut and sewn according to the design. The piece of fabric chosen for the back coordinates with the decorative top’s colors. A layer of polyester batting fits between the top and bottom layers. Over 350 yards of thread secure all three layers together to create a comfortable blanket. It is dated and initialed with a 20.5 inch drop per side.
Measures 101″ x 111″ long.
Homemade quilts combine the warmth of a bed cover with a unique story told by the quilters from Lancaster County, PA. Every homemade quilt is as unique as the family, busy mother or Amish ladies group who uses a needle and thimble to thread stitch on the quilt. Some quilts involve hundreds of hours and thousands of stitches to create a unique patchwork quilt that will last for generations.
